Raising Money Through Recreational Sports

GO PLAY. RAISE MONEY

Here’s how it works:  Players in recreational sports sign up with our organization and then go play. Money is raised through the players and their sponsors based on the daily performance of the individual and team.

The Charity:  We’re raising funds for a local charity called Just for Kics. It’s an organization that collects donations to help get under privileged children playing in organized sports leagues in the GTA. New charities will be added as we grow.

Raising Money:  This is the easy part. All you have to do is show up and play. Our first team is for softball. For softball, if you get a hit it raises $0.50, if you score a run it counts as $0.50, if you get a HR it counts as $5, and if we win we raise $3 per person. We’ll keep track of the stats and send out a weekly e-mail commenting on the game and telling everyone how much money they’ve raised.

Don’t worry, we’ve done the math and at the end of the year everyone should have raised around $3 per game. And, just in case someone happens to break the HR record, or we win every game, there’s a donation cap of $75 per person.

The process works for all sports. Hockey, Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, Cross-Fit, you name it, you can raise money by doing it.

Sponsors: This is the best part. We need everyone to ask friends and family to sponsor them and participate in the same fundraising. Ask your work colleagues, ask your 2nd cousins, the more sponsors the better. We’ll provide a generic e-mail to send out explaining the process and all we need from them for now is an e-mail address for the weekly e-mail blasts.

At the end of the year we’ll tally everything up and let you know how much was raised. Of course, the weekly update e-mails will allow everyone to keep track of their donation levels. At the end of the year we’ll also give out charity receipts for your donation for tax purposes. Ultimately, after taxes, you’ll only be responsible for a fraction of the amount raised.

We’ll also have prizes for the player who raises the most money individually based on their performance on the field and who has the most number of sponsors.

This is just the beginning of what we hope will be something much bigger. Your help getting this started is really appreciated.
